Sheila Solon was elected to the City Council in April 2007. Prior to her election, Sheila has served the community on the Planning Commission for nine years and as its Chairperson from 2005 to 2007. In serving the city, she has also worked on the Board of Zoning & Adjustment, Charter Review Committees, the City Area Plan Committee, the Capital Improvements Committee, the Citizens Advisory Committee on Tax Issues, as Chairman of the Multi-family Task Force Committee, and as the Chairman of the Development Advisory Commission.
Mrs. Solon has shown her commitment to the Blue Springs School District by serving on the PTA Boards of Cordill-Mason Elementary and Moreland Ridge Middle School. While serving as PTA President of Cordill-Mason Elementary in 2000, the organization was awarded Most Outstanding PTA in the state of Missouri. She has actively participated in the Citizens Advisory Committee and the Superintendent’s Round Table. Currently, Mrs. Solon is a member of the Blue Springs South High School PTA, the Blue Springs South Booster Club, the Blue Springs South Football Boosters, and Citizens Advisory Committee Safety Sub-Committee.
Sheila Solon is an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She serves on the Hospitality Committee and with United Methodist Women. She has also served as a Sunday School Teacher and as the Wee Singers Director for 6 years.
Sheila and her husband, Charlie have been married for 22 years. They have made Blue Springs their home for over 17 years. Sheila and Charlie have two children, Lindsey, a sophomore at Northwest University, and Spencer, a senior at Blue Springs South High School.
Professionally, Sheila is an Account Coordinator with Parlux Fragrances.
